Mr Jocelyn Mason assumed his position in May 2019 as Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Somalia.
Prior to this, he served since July 2017 as UNDP Afghanistan Country Director. He has held various senior positions in UNDP, including Senior Deputy Country Director in Afghanistan, Directorate Manager in the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS), Chief of Staff in the Bureau for Crisis Prevention and Recovery (BCPR), Country Director for Mozambique and Deputy Director of the Washington Liaison Office. Earlier in his career, Jocelyn worked for the UN Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), the World Bank and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
A dual British-U.S. national, Jocelyn also speaks Italian, French and Portuguese. He holds degrees in Jurisprudence from Oxford University and in International Relations and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
